On September 1st, a delegation of 15 Russian optoelectronic companies and national research institutions visited Lightstandard, a provider of optical computing solutions. The two sides jointly explored a new paradigm for AI computing that will lead the next generation of computing power. The delegation consisted of universities and companies from fields such as microelectronics, advanced semiconductors, and high-precision measurement and testing. Among them were the National Research University of Electronics, renowned in the field of microelectronics, and the Science and Production Association of the Science Center, which integrates academic research and industrial application.

Lightstandard is a leading optical computing solution provider in China, dedicated to providing new computing chips and system solutions for high-performance computing fields such as large models and embodied intelligence. In June 2024, it became the first in the industry to complete the tape-out of the world's first 128×128 optical computing chip. The company's core team comes from world-renowned universities such as Oxford University, University of Chicago, and Tsinghua University. They have taken a unique approach to technology, employing heterogeneous integration of silicon photonics and phase change materials, and a Crossbar photonic matrix computing structure. This approach not only achieves in-memory computing for optical chips but also integrates 128×128, 256×256, or even larger matrices onto a single chip, thus possessing the advantages of high computing power and low power consumption.

Xiong Yinjiang, co-founder of Lightstandard, first introduced the company's development history, core team, technology roadmap, and industrialization progress to the visiting delegation. The two sides then engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as optical computing product development and ecosystem building, as well as the development of the artificial intelligence industry in Russia. Regarding this visit and exchange, the Russian delegation representatives commented: "Lightstandard's 'PCM+Crossbar' technology roadmap is cutting-edge, and its industrialization path is clear. Although it has not yet entered mass production, we believe it already has a credible foundation for practical application and investment value."

"This visit by the Russian optoelectronic industry delegation provides an excellent opportunity for exchanges between Lightstandard and the international academic and industrial communities. We are willing to take this as a starting point to continuously explore new technological paths to accelerate the development of the artificial intelligence industry together with Russian universities and enterprises," said Xiong Yinjiang.
